Congratulations Raul Hinojos!

Raul Hinojos, Uplift Hampton Preparatory Class of 2022, was awarded the QuestBridge Match Scholarship to Columbia University in New York!

“Columbia was very high on my list due to the location, the size of the school, and what they had to offer in terms of their engineering department,” said Raul. “I applied, made it to the finalist round, and fortunately I was accepted into Columbia.”

Raul has always been fascinated by aircraft and spacecraft and looks forward to utilizing the knowledge and skills he acquires via his mechanical engineering degree to contribute to the exploration of outer space.

“Right now, NASA’s mission is to get back to the moon and hopefully, one day, Mars, so getting to go there would be an awesome experience for me,” said Raul.

Match Scholarship Recipients like Raul are granted early admission to one of QuestBridge’s college partners with a full four-year scholarship, worth over $200,000. Their college partners use a combination of their own funds as well as state and federal aid to fund the scholarship.
