Melville Family Foundation Donates Chromebooks to Uplift Scholars

The 2021-2022 school year is in full swing, and our scholars find themselves equipped for a great year of learning, thanks to a special $25,000 grant we received from the Melville Family Foundation.

Over 100 scholars will be able to benefit from the Chromebooks that were delivered to campuses this summer.

Thanks to the generosity of the Melville Family Foundation, even more of our families and scholars will be able to remain connected both at school and at home.

“Using a Chromebook has been a big advantage for me because I can contact my teachers directly and receive one-on-one support if I need help,” said Uplift scholar Destini Davis.

Providing our scholars with Chromebooks helps alleviate some of our families’ concerns and serves to lessen the burden of having to buy an expensive device.

“This past year and a half, it was crucial for my scholars to have a device that they can use,” said Jessica Salas, the parent of an Uplift scholar. “We only had one iPad and one laptop at home; with all three of our scholars having to be online at the same time, there was no way that they could have gotten it done without their Chromebooks.”

We once again want to thank the Melville Family Foundation for helping to provide some of our scholars and families in need with Chromebooks and we look forward to seeing our scholars take advantage of having the technology at their fingertips.

“The Chromebook has made my child’s life and mine easier with the accessibility of information to get more done and study,” said Sharon Carter, a parent of an Uplift scholar.
