December Events for the Entire Family to Enjoy

As we transition back from the Thanksgiving break, we cannot help but look forward to the upcoming Winter Break. We compiled a list of activities and events taking place throughout the DFW metroplex to help you celebrate and take in some holiday cheer!

The Trains at NorthPark

November 14th – January 3rd
NorthPark Center 8687 North Central Expressway, Dallas, TX 75225

The Trains at NorthPark™, presented by Bank of Texas, has been a NorthPark Center tradition for over 20 years. The most elaborate miniature toy trains exhibit in Texas, The Trains at NorthPark™ features trains rolling along 1,300 feet of track on a journey across America. Cityscapes include New York City’s Time Square and Grand Central Station, The White House, New England’s fall foliage, the Grand Canyon, Route 66, San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, Albuquerque’s hot air balloons, and, of course, Dallas’ Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, The State Fair of Texas, The Cotton Bowl, Nasher Sculpture Center, The Perot Museum, and SMU.

The exhibit encompasses train-themed environments with all the trimmings of the holiday train travel experience—steam engines, coach cars, a ticket booth, and a train station.

Panther Island Ice

November 20th – January 18th
Coyote Drive-In | 223 NE 4th St, Fort Worth, TX 76164

Panther Island Ice, located at the Coyote Drive-In, is Fort Worth’s outdoor skating rink. The ice rink will operate seven days a week, including all holidays. The rink is real ice located mostly under a large pavilion.

Take advantage of the ample free parking, along with the drive-in’s other amenities such as covered seating, gas heaters, restrooms, and a full menu. No drive-in movie ticket is required.

Dallas Zoo Lights Presented by Reliant

November 20th – January 3rd

Dallas Zoo Lights Presented by Reliant has been reimagined so you can now drive through a holiday safari of lights in your own vehicle!

Cruise through a newly constructed pathway – and through familiar parts of the Dallas Zoo – while marveling at more than one million lights in elaborate displays, silk-covered animal lanterns depicting all your zoo favorites, an ice palace fit for a trio of penguins, and so much more along the way.

Prairie Lights

November 26th – December 31st from 6:00 P.M. – 10:00 P.M.
Lynn Creek Park at Joe Pool Lake | 5610 Lake Ridge Pkwy Grand Prairie, TX 75052

Located along the shores of Joe Pool Lake, Prairie Lights is a two-mile, drive-through holiday park experience that showcases a stunning display of more than five million lights arranged in hundreds of festive holiday scenes throughout the park. While the out-of-car experience (the Holiday Village) will not open this year due to pandemic considerations, Prairie Lights will feature a new drive-through concession option; and one of the most famous light installations—the animated grand-finale tunnel—will once again be in place to delight visitors as they make their exit from the park.

Due to the high volume of cars on weekends and holidays, please allow additional time to get through the park. Long wait times anticipated 12/13 – 12/25. Be prepared and arrive early.

Vitruvian Lights

November 27th – January 3rd

Vitruvian Park transforms into a magical holiday wonderland during Vitruvian Lights. This year, Vitruvian Park has made the difficult decision not to host special events in conjunction with Vitruvian Lights. However, visitors are encouraged to walk through the park in a socially distanced manner or drive through to enjoy the beauty that is Vitruvian Lights.

Free parking is available onsite at Vitruvian Park, Bella Lane Parking Lot, Park Road Parking Lot, and Ponte Avenue Parking Lot.

Candy Cane Lane

November 27th – December 26th

iHeartRadio and Germania Insurance present Candy Cane Lane! a multi-level visual Christmas attraction that will allow guests to celebrate the holidays in a touchless environment from the safety of their cars. Each level of Candy Cane Lane combines the wonderful outdoor experiences of Christmas including a vast array of holiday lights, classic holiday lantern characters, and wonderland of surprises around every corner.

Unlike the North Pole and other Christmas events, Candy Cane Lane is protected from weather conditions, so they are open, rain or shine.

In addition, there is a special upgrade available to attendees to get a commemorative 2020 photo opportunity with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The family stays in the vehicle while they stay safely socially distanced.

Posadas at Traders Village

November 28th – December 20th

Celebrate Posadas at Traders Village! This event will be held every weekend under the Big Red Patio and will have traditional Mexican holiday treats like tamales, atole, buñuelos, candies, piñatas and of course Santa!

Kids of all ages can have their photo taken with Santa. Get into the spirit of Christmas with thousands of dealers selling holiday gifts and more for all tastes and budgets.

Reliant Lights Your Holidays

Friday, December 4th – Saturday, December 20th
AT&T Performing Arts Center | 2403 Flora St. Dallas, TX 75201

The AT&T Performing Arts Center and Reliant have reimagined this popular North Texas holiday tradition so you and your family can safely explore and enjoy at your own pace! For 16 nights, guests will enjoy 550,000 LED lights illuminating the Winspear Opera House, Wyly Theatre, and the many trees in Sammons Park.

And to add to the magic of the campus stroll, through the generous support of The David M. Crowley Foundation, they’re also adding festive projections and great family photo-ops along with Friday and Saturday evening pop-up performances from local artists and organizations. There will be so many great opportunities to visit again and again!

Gingerbread House Decorating Party

Grab a spot and join us at Play Street Museum Fort Worth on Tuesday, December 8th, and Friday, December 18th, for our gingerbread decorating party! Kiddos will have a blast decorating their Papier-mâché house with icing and tons and tons of candy, cereals, pretzels, and sprinkles! Each child can also decorate a gingerbread sugar cookie to enjoy during the party!

Lotería Christmas Ornament Kit Giveaway

Drive by the LCC parking lot to receive a FREE ornament kit on Saturday, December 19, from 12-2pm. The ornament kit will be Lotería themed with an instructional video by local artist, Iris Candelaria of Candelaria & Co. Art Studio. This will be a great activity to do at home with your family.
