Hispanic Heritage Month began more than 30 years ago, when President Ronald Reagan expanded the nation’s Hispanic Heritage Week. Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated every year from September 15 through October 15. This year is no different.
Despite COVID-19 throwing a wrench in our plans, there are still a variety of different ways to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month. While some of these events have ties to the DFW metroplex, there are others that will be done virtually which will allow you to engage with Hispanic and Latinx communities from all over the world!

Hispanic Heritage Month kicks off on September 15 because Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua all share that date as their Independence Day. The people of Mexico and Chile celebrate theirs on September 16 and September 18, respectively.
