This year Uplift CEO Yasmin Bhatia will host a town hall at every campus to discuss priorities that affect each child in the network. Parents will see scholar art exhibits, meet other parents, and engage in a productive conversation with Ms. Bhatia and campus leadership. Each Town Hall begins at 5:45 with Ms. Bhatia’s presentation on Uplift’s long range goals, followed by a review of the parent survey from the end of the 2013-2014 school year. Thereafter, the floor is open for parents to ask questions to Ms. Bhatia and campus leaders.
The term town hall might usually evoke images of concerned citizens that feel powerless to propose changes let alone act on them. At an Uplift Town Hall parent participation is encouraged and parental suggestions for solutions are valued. During the first three town halls of the year, parents spoke glowingly of leadership’s educational efforts ranging from the high level concepts learned to the improved behavior of their child. Within areas for improvement parents made themselves available to develop extracurricular activities, proposed solutions to challenges and offered to volunteer more often on campus in order to help teachers.
At Uplift Triumph parents requested extra volunteer opportunities and Uplift Triumph Director, Christine Denison, was grateful to parents for the feedback.
“We are so excited to have rolled out two “room parents” for each teacher, as well as Committee Leads, and parents to be part of those committees. We also have two VIP coordinators who have been a huge help in getting all of this rolling after our Town Hall.” she said.
Every CEO Town Hall event starts at 5:45pm and ends at 7:00pm. Arrive early to meet other parents and enjoy the artistry and talent of scholars.
